Position Title: Senior Engineer (Corrosion & Coating)
Business Division: Asset Integrity

Primary Purpose of the Job:

  • Responsible for leading the corrosion protection team covering all assets in the Mesaieed Operations Operational Area.
  • Provides specialist technical expertise in corrosion processes, corrosion control, corrosion resistant materials, materials selection, environmental conditioning (including corrosion inhibitors), cathodic protection, coatings technology and failure analysis.
  • Delegate's most cathodic protection, corrosion monitoring and protective coatings work to Senior Corrosion Engineer and Senior Coatings Inspector.
  • As prescribed by risk based inspection requirements, reviews corrosion processes in the 500+ "nodes" in the Operational Area, determines what modes of corrosion are possible (which accordingly prescribes the minimum levels of visual inspection and NDT for each plant equipment and each section of piping. Sits on the committee convened to review risk changes as a result of changes in operational practice or process chemistry (i.e. states if additional corrosion modes are likely and if the corrosively increases or decreases).
  • Assets covered include all process and utility plant and piping in the Operational Area as well as all storage  and export facilities and all distibution system pipelines. Inadequacy in this area may result in leakage loss of toxic or explosive product and inappropriate inspection requirements.

Education:

  • BSc Honours degree in Material, Metallurgy or Chemistry or equivalent engineering discipline with relevant training.

Experience & Skills:

  • Not less than15 years relevant experience in the area of corrosion protection.
  • Preferable to have accreditation at senior levels from NACE or similar respected impartial authority.
