Position Title: Head of Fire Services
Business Division: Health Safety and Environment

Primary Purpose of the Job:

  • Manages and coordinates the operational fire and emergency requirements ensuring that it maintains at all times the state of operational readiness required to deliver the operational services to the standards required by Qatar Petroleum.
  • Plans and coordinates at Area Level the provision of Emergency Firefighting, Search & Rescue, Salvage and Humanitarian Services, including liaison with Civil Defense, Medical Services, Security Services and Environmental Representatives.
  • Takes overall command of the day-to-day running of the Fire Department (Dukhan Fields).
  • Responsible for the implementation of QP/Dukhan Policies, Procedures and Standing Instructions to meet both area and corporate strategic objectives for emergency response and fire safety. Responsible and accountable for delivering fire and rescue services from three strategically located Dukhan Fields fire stations.
  • Monitors performance through effective management and development of performance indicators to align the department with internationally recognized best practices.
  • Responds in off duty periods, to assist/advise operational management on major or complex incidents.
  • Keep area management informed of operations from the emergency command center.
  • Assumes the role of Fire Commander as and when required by Operational Management. Plans and coordinates stand-by fire-cover in operating areas, and additional duties as required.
  • Reviews/comments on all relevant fire safety matters related to new projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree or equivalent education with relevant experience.
  • Corporate Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers
  • Diploma in Firefighting (Team Leader).
  • Passed Advanced Firefighting Course.
  • Successfully completed a recognized International Access and Command Course Passed Fire Investigation Course.
  • Passed Crew Command Course.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 12 years experience in firefighting with a minimum of 5 years in Oil & Gas environments.
  • Fully conversant with written and spoken English.
  • Speaking Arabic a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum pass of English Level Six proficiency including advanced communication or equivalent.
