QP brings employees and their families together through sports
In line with nation-wide celebrations of National Sport Day, Qatar Petroleum (QP) organized a range of fun-filled activities in Dukhan, which attracted the participation of a large number of employees and their families.
The NSD events ware an opportunity for QP employees and their families to come together and enjoy a day of sports and other exciting activities while reaping many health benefits in the process. The national holiday also effectively served as a reminder for everyone of the importance of an active lifestyle in order to stay fit and healthy.
In his comments on the occasion, Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, QP President & CEO, said: “As we celebrate National Sport Day, we are constantly reminded of the importance of this event not just in promoting a healthy lifestyle, but also in building stronger bonds within the ONE QP family.”
QP’s NSD celebration in Dukhan started with a healthy breakfast at the Dukhan Recreation Club, which was then followed by playground activities for children and tournaments in badminton and darts at the same venue. A golf tournament was also held at the Dukhan Golf Club, while the Jinnan Recreation Club hosted a cricket match, basketball games, and a table tennis competition. The Dukhan Fitness Club, on the other hand, held aerobics classes and gym workouts for ladies, while the other participants played petanque and beach volleyball at the Dukhan Water Sports Club.
In addition, QP also organized various sports activities in its operational areas offshore to stress the importance of regular physical activity for good health and well-being.
In Halul Island, QP employees and contractor staff competed in a 3.5-kilometer fun run, while others played various games including tug-of-war, table tennis, carom and billiards. Those working in QP’s offshore production stations also marked NSD 2018 with friendly competitions in various indoor activities, including darts, arm wrestling, billiards, dumbbell lifting as well as in sit-ups and push-ups.
