Dukhan, Qatar • 17 July 2012 – Qatar Petroleum (QP) recently hosted representatives of Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO), and Qatargas Operating Company (Qatargas) for a tour of the Dukhan Learning Centre (DLC), a modern training facility that was inaugurated last March by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy of Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP.
The representatives from QP’s joint ventures and subsidiaries were warmly welcomed by DLC staff as well as by senior officials of QP’s Corporate Training Department. During their visit, they learned about the latest technologies in the field of training and development, the full range of laboratory equipment installed at DLC, and its advanced classrooms that are equipped with modern teaching aids.
The DLC staff also explained to the visitors the facility’s range of technical courses on mechanical, electrical, process and instrumentation systems, which prepare technicians in achieving an international TAFE (Training and Further Education) certificate. In addition, they also discussed the specialized training courses offered by DLC as well as its administrative programs, which include those related to English proficiency.
The company representatives were all highly impressed by the advanced technical equipment and the high quality of training programs and courses at DLC. They also praised the efforts of QP’s Corporate Training Department in developing a skilled national workforce who would be capable of assuming the responsibilities for the next phase of the country’s development in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2011–2016.
The visit also gave the company representatives an opportunity to meet the trainees at DLC, review their monthly reports and performance so far, as well as discuss all matters related to their training. At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Fatima Mohammed Al-Ali, Assistant Manager for Vocational Training at QP’s Corporate Training Department, expressed her gratitude to the company representatives for accepting the invitation to visit DLC and to see for themselves the extent of development and achievements that have been realized so far in this field.
