Stress Corrosion Cracking: An introduction
|
|
This one-day short course will review the fundamentals and concepts of corrosion and metallurgy. The phenomenon of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) with a particular emphasis on sulfide stress corrosion cracking will be introduced and presented.
Who should Attend?
Personnel who are working in technical areas related to materials, maintenance and integrity who deal directly or indirectly with corrosion related issues.
Prerequisite
No specific prerequisite courses are required; however participants should have some general technical background and interest in the topic.
Program Focus
The following topics will be covered in the course:
What is SCC and its requirements
Types and characteristics of SCC
Materials chemistry and microstructure
Mechanism of SCC
Effect of environmental factors on SCC
Sulfide stress corrosion cracking
Prevention of SCC
