 QP carried out drilling operation in the year 2003 offshore (Maydan Mahzam, MM and Bul Hanine, BH Fields) and onshore (Dukhan Field).
The rigs counts, major drilling and work over activities were as follows:
Offshore Fields (MM/BH) drilling rig increased to 2 rigs operations in August then to 3 rigs in November, 2003.
- Up to 5.2 new wells were drilled, 2.1 wells were side tracked and 3 wells were worked over.
- The total footage drilled was 90,759 ft.
Onshore Field (Dukhan) drilling rig increased to 2 rigs operations in July till 3rd December, when 1 rig was assigned to RasGas Operations for 2 months.
- Up to 5 new wells where drilled, 5.5 wells were side tracked and 1 well was worked over.
- The total footage drilled was 90,021 ft.
Major activities in Offshore wells:
- Development drilling of Arab C, Arab D, Uwainat and Araej reservoir through horizontal wells.
- Worked over, re-completed and activated some of Arab C, Arab D and Uwainat wells.
- Continued coordinating the Bul Hanine Arab C Gas Recycling Project wells and achieved targets as started drilling phase.
- Applied a new logging technique through horizontal holes.
- Achieved reduction on the cost per foot and achieved all objectives within the approved budget.
Major activities in Onshore wells:
- Development drilling of Arab C and Arab D reservoir through horizontal wells.
- Worked over one Khuff well by replacing the completion string.
- Continued testing of Arab D Gas Recycling and other wells by utilizing high pressure test separator.
- Continued maintaining of the water source wells by replacing the down hole pump/motor and casing.
- Completed installation of the required gas lift valves prior to the commissioning of the Gas Lift Project.
- Achieved a reduction on the cost per foot and all objectives were completed within the approved budget.
