​Refined Products​

The products are produced from the 146 kbpd condensate splitter in Ras Laffan & the137KBpD Refinery and NGL plant at Mesaieed. Each unit produces a different grade of naphtha & middle distillates (jet fuel and gasoil).  
Additionally, QP’s refinery in Mesaieed produces two grades of gasoline and decant oil (a blending stock of either bunker or utility fuels), which is collected from bottom FCC unit. Most of the naphtha is exported to meet Petrochemical feedstock needs in the east Asian countries as well as requirements in the west of Suez if supported by its economics. The transportation fuels meet local and regional needs including aviation turbine fuel jet A-1, of which a significant quantity is exported to northwestern Europe. QPSPP also handles the marketing of the highly paraffinic Naphtha produced from the two GTL facilities (Oryx GTL & Pearl GTL). 

Decant Oil

Decant Oil is a heavy oil recovered from the bottom of a Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC) at the QP Refinery in Mesaieed.  

As the end of the processing chain, Decant Oil (15 – 20,000 MT/mo) is high in density and high sulphur content, but low viscosity (less than 100 cSt). Decant Oil is used as a blending material for either utility and bunker fuels or Carbon Black Market Stock.

Full Range Naphtha

Refineries and gas plants produce various grades of naphtha , which are mixtures of flammable liquid hydrocarbons and typically used as feedstock by petrochemical plants  and other refineries to produce high octane gasoline. 

Full Range Naphtha is a light fraction of hydrocarbons with boiling points between 30°C and 200°C. A highly volatile mixture, it constitutes typically 15-30 percent of crude oil, by weight.

Gasoil 10ppm S​

Gasoil is a transportation fuel, and the Laffan  Refinery in Ras Laffan currently produces 10ppm low-sulphur gasoil.

Qatar also produces 300-500ppmS gasoil at the QP Refinery in Mesaieed. Both grades are being consumed in the domestic market  but occasionally, exports are available from Ras Laffan at a cargo size of 40KT.​

Gasoline

Gasoline is a mixture of relatively volatile hydrocarbons that are derived from fractional distillation of crude oil with a further treatment mainly in terms of improvement of its octane rating.
Gasoline is primarily used as a fuel in automotive engines, farm machinery and  other spark ignition engines.  
Also known as motor gasoline, Qatar produces two grades of gasoline — Premium Grade (91RON) and Super Grade (95RON). Qatar Petroleum produces both grades at the Mesaieed Refinery, primarily to meet the local demand. The surplus of both grades are exported in 30,000MT cargo size.

Jet A1

Jet fuel is a transportation fuel produced and treated for use in the aviation industry. QPSPP markets Jet A-1, also known as Aviation Turbine Jet Fuel.

Qatar produces Jet A-1 fuel at its refineries in Mesaieed and Ras Laffan. Fuel from Mesaieed is primarily dedicated to meet the local demand in Qatar with only surplus to exported. Production of Jet A-1 from the Ras Laffan, on the other hand, is intended for export at a cargo size of up to 60,000MT.

NGL Condensate

NGL Condensate, an acronym for Natural Gas Liquids Condensate, is hydrocarbons separated from Natural Gas as liquids through the different methods in the gas processing plants. NGL Condensates are used mostly as raw material for further processing. Tasweeq markets NGL Condensates produced from the Mesaieed Refinery.

Plant Condensate

Plant Condensate is one of the natural gas liquids, mostly the low boiling paraffinic hydrocarbons and heavier hydrocarbons, recovered and separated as liquids at gas inlet separators or scrubbers in processing plants.



Refinery Naphtha

Refinery naphtha is a light fraction of the hydrocarbons with boiling between 30°C and 150°C and consists of a complex mixture of hydrocarbon molecules generally having between 5 and 10 carbon atoms. 

It is mainly used as feedstock in petrochemical steam crackers, where it is heated in the presence of water vapour and the absence of oxygen or air until the hydrocarbon molecules break up (or crack). The primary products of the cracking process are olefins (ethylene/ethane, propylene/propane and butadiene).

Refinery Naphtha


Straight Run Fuel Oil (Line Flush)

Fuel oil is any liquid petroleum product obtained from crude oil as a distillate or residue. Fuel oil is burnt in a furnace or boiler for the generation of heat or used in an engine for the generation of power.

Fuel oil is differentiated into various classes based on their molecular composition.  The oil is used in a stricter sense to refer only to the heaviest commercial fuel that can be obtained from crude oil, heavier than gasoline and naphtha.

In general, fuel oil is used in vehicles, ships and power generators. A barrel of crude can yield about 25-75% of fuel oil.
